Buzzworthy Coffee Shops Around Frederick, Maryland

Coffee lovers will be happy to discover that there’s no shortage of delicious and unique spots to fuel up in Frederick County. We’re sharing seven coffee shops around Frederick, Maryland, that are sure to deliver great drinks, a cool atmosphere, and plenty to explore nearby. 

Beans in the Belfry

Located inside a century-old church in historic Brunswick, Beans in the Belfry is a beloved community spot serving coffee, tea, café fare, and baked goods.

The cafe is a short walk from the C&O Canal, a National Historical Park that offers exciting outdoor adventures. Bikers and walkers love the wide, flat towpath that runs parallel to the Potomac River. 

5 West Cafe 

This charming coffee shop is located in a historic building in the heart of New Market. 5 West Cafe is on Main Street in a 19th-century building that once housed a hotel, tavern, post office, and library.

The building demonstrates the history of New Market as a “pike town” on the Historic National Road. Opened in 2022, the cafe partners with Stage Line Coffee Roasters, which is also based in this small town.

Beans and Dreams—Nektario’s Place

New coffee shop alert! Beans and Dreams—Nektario’s Place recently opened in Middletown. Try their signature “Freddo Cappuccino” and the baklava cheesecake (it’s imported from Greece)!

Once you’ve gotten your caffeine fix, take a walking tour and enjoy the beautiful architecture along Main Street, drive down the road to South Mountain Creamery for farm-fresh ice cream, or hit the trail for a hike through history.

Dublin Roasters Coffee

Dublin Roasters Coffee hand-roasts more than 80 varieties of handcrafted, organic artisan coffee. The shop features organic and fair-trade products, special blends, and flavored coffees. You can even order a coffee flight! Did we mention Dublin Roasters is dog-friendly? Order your pup a “puppucinno”—whipped cream in a cup with a dog biscuit garnish.

After, head to Fountain Rock Park and check out the limestone kilns.

Gravel & Grind

Combining their two loves—bikes and coffee—Gravel & Grind serves up consciously sourced coffee, delicious food prepared with love, and solid, sensible bikes for sale and rent.

Park yourself at Gravel & Grind in the morning (their toasts are delicious), then head across the street for a burger at Fifty Fifty inside Olde Mother Brewing.

Ibiza Café                                                                    

Ibiza Café is a cozy spot off Market Street in Downtown Frederick that offers single origin coffee brewed via siphon or pour over, as well as aromatic hot teas imported directly from an organic tea farm in Taiwan. Take a picturesque walk through downtown after your caffeine boost and enjoy a variety of eclectic boutiques and galleries.

Delizia Café

In addition to offering a tasty assortment of pizzas and desserts (cannoli, anyone?), Delizia Café also serves traditional Italian-style espresso drinks. It’s just around the corner from Carroll Creek Linear Park, a 1.5-mile urban park running through the heart of Downtown Frederick. It’s the perfect spot to people-watch and take pictures.
