Before we knew it, the days got long and the weather got hot. Summer is already in full swing, and that means it’s time to start thinking about your Independence Day plans! No matter what part of Maryland you’re in, you’ll be able to hop in your car and find a fireworks display that sounds exciting to you. Here are some fun events and firework shows in Maryland to help you make summer memories with your friends and family:

Capital Region

Baker Park in historic downtown Frederick is home to the largest Independence Day celebration in Frederick County. The 58-acre community park offers spacious walking trails with views of historic architecture, peaceful water, and refreshing open air. This year’s Frederick’s 4th celebration will feature family-friendly games, live music, local food, and shaded beer & wine gardens. Be sure to claim your spot early for the big finale at dusk, because the park fills up quickly! Check out the fireworks viewing map for recommendations on which spots will have the best view of the show.

Central Maryland

Visitors to Annapolis in Anne Arundel County will be able to see an amazing fireworks display launched from a barge in the harbor! Experience the wonder of the capital city’s fireworks celebration as colors fill the sky and reflect off of the water below. You’ll get a great view of the show at various locations, including along the Naval Academy Bridge, along the downtown waterfront, or even aboard a boat in the Annapolis harbor.

Eastern Maryland

Chesapeake City offers an exciting fireworks display alongside the historical Chesapeake & Delaware Canal. Visitors who arrive at nearby Pell Gardens Park in advance of the fireworks display can experience an evening of family-friendly activities, food, vendors, and live music. This July 2nd event is a great opportunity to celebrate Independence Day weekend while experiencing local history.

Another great place to see fireworks in eastern Maryland is in downtown Ocean City at N. Division Street, which will treat visitors to music and fireworks that fill the sky above the ocean. Also consider the pyrotechnic performance in Snow Hill, and the free community fireworks event in Salisbury.

Southern Maryland

Charles County will be hosting its biggest fireworks show ever this year with its Fun-Filled 4th event at Regency Furniture Stadium in Waldorf. Bring out the whole family for festivities including food trucks, vendors, live music, and kids’ activities. Just before the fireworks start, baseball fans will be able to watch southern Maryland’s baseball team, the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs, take to the field. The live music, activities, and fireworks are free, so be sure to gather up your loved ones and join the fun.

Southern Maryland residents and visitors can also enjoy fireworks at the town of Chesapeake Beach’s Independence Day Celebration on July 3rd.

Western Maryland

Join thousands of visitors from around the region in Hagerstown for Maryland Symphony Orchestra’s Salute to Independence concert. The western Maryland-based orchestra will delight concertgoers with this beloved Washington County tradition, which began in 1986. It’s only natural that the concert deemed “Maryland’s Most Patriotic Event” will be followed by a dazzling fireworks display. The event will be held on July 1 at Hagerstown Community College—you won’t want to miss this memorable celebration!

You can also catch western Maryland fireworks at McHenry’s annual Fire on the Mountain event, where fireworks above Deep Creek Lake will fill the spacious mountain skies. Arrive ahead of the 9:30 start time for live music and food.
